Thank you Mr. Kruse. Another excellent town hall. You handled everything very well. Especially that one part !! I look forward to becoming educated in this system. 2024 will be the year that the Manatee County Citizen take back what should already have been ours. Our Communities and Our Rights.
Thank you George. It's totally apparent that the rest of the BOCC don't give a rat's ass about their constituents that voted their sorry asses in except Turner was appointed..yay us said no one ever ...VOTE THEM OUT. THE REST IN 2026..THEY DON'T EVEN hide their contempt or disdain towards the voter...WHO THEY WERE ELECTED BY....SHAME ON THE CITIZENS..YOU WERE TAKEN LIKE FOOLS
Dang Deb, no need to sugar coat. Let us know how you really feel. ;-) I love that so many of us are just as ticked as you are. We have corrupt, unethical, dishonest elected commissioners selling out our County. Satcher, VanOstenbridge, and Turner are embarrassing - they make all of us look like fools for voting them in. We must vote them out
In response to Ms. Martin, the former Animal Advisory Board Member. The Board was ignored because the Board allowed itself to be ignored. Whoever is/was the Animal Advisory Board leader/President should have held meetings, discussed issues, formulated written responses, and asked to be placed on the BoCC meeting agenda to deliver their recommendations. The leader should have exercised advisory board's authority to advise. Don't take no for an answer. Commissioner Kruse has been there since 2021, he would have placed you on the agenda. If not, go to The Bradenton Times or other media. The Animal Advisory Board allowed itself to become irrelevant during a period in which it was needed the most. The Advisory Board could have been a voice against the shameful termination of 11 volunteers. If you don't know the 11 - they are the best this County has to offer - yet the County treated them like dirt.
As a former member of the Animal Services Advisory Board, I can say that was a huge waste of time. The BOCC pretty much ignored our recommendations and the meetings completely stopped after Commissioner Whitmore left. Re-establishing the board will accomplish nothing.
Understood. I agree that simply increasing the number of boards is worthless if we don't utilize them more. When I was on the affordable housing board, I would encourage that board to write letters to the BOCC, show up to speak and make their opinions heard. Some of our boards, like Children Services, have a very strong voice and their opinions and advice are taken. Others, like the previous animal services, not so much. We need to overhaul the system and allow for those boards to elect liaisons to the BOCC and allow for them to be part of the discussion in our meetings. Otherwise, I agree, it's just window dressing.
Excuse me while I gag! The last thing that anyone in government wants is citizen involvement. If you educate yourself, if you attend public meetings, if you serve on citizen committees, and worst of all if you dare speak up you are vilified, you are marginalized, and you can feel the sputum of hatred of everyone in government drip off them just by you being in their presence. We have already seen Mr. Kruse's true colors. He will promise anything to get elected. Once he was elected he became a darling of the developers. Remember, the day he had his DUI he was coming home from a drinking party at a developer's residence. As soon as it became apparent he would not enjoy the support of the developers after he subpoenaed them for the trial that never was, he became a populist again. The moral decay in the ruling class is complete. They all have an air of moral superiority as they parade their moral decay in front of us, trying to convince us this is only normal. We have a school board member in Sarasota County being shamed due to her hypocrisy. Where are the women who should be offended at Mr. Kruse's hypocrisy. In 2024 if you cannot pass the moral code which all religions have in common you need to be shown the door. Then, Mr. Kruse, perhaps I can submit the records request to your successor to see if they will respond. Frankly, Mr. VAN Ostenbridge is being sued for ordering staff to make record requests as expensive as possible. The charge to me for over $1,800 for requesting public records, is just part of the hatred which elected officials have for their constituents. You do not want the public to be able to retrieve records which the taxpayers paid to create in the first place. All of you are disgusting and not one incumbent deserves to be returned to office. I did submit one reply to this post before which was taken down. Go ahead and take this one down too in order to show you are just a sychophant for Mr. Kruse.
I’ve never taken down a single comment on this substack Ken. It all pertains to County business so it’s subject to public records laws. Please do not spread false information in the comment section just because you donated to and support another candidate in my upcoming election. Thank you.
I have swallowed 100 times per day before responding. First of all, I am not supporting anyone in your race (Fact), nor have I contributed one single penny to anyone in your race (Fact). That being said, my wife contributed $200 to Keith Green (Fact). Maybe you can control your wife (cf. video from the day of your "the fix is in" non-DUI, DUI), but I do not control my wife nor do I speak for her (Fact). Believe you me!! I do not want you to make any allowances for me when I am speaking or writing. Similarly, I will cut you no slack. In 2020 I made a gross mistake ( Mixed Fact and Opinion). I contributed $200 to your campaign(Fact), in the form of two $100 checks(Fact) each on separate dates (Fact). My wife made the same mistakes( Mixed Fact and opinion). She contributed a total of $200 to your campaign in the form of two $100 checks (Fact) on separate dates (Fact). These records of donations are FACTS which can be verified on the Manatee County Supervisor of Elections website. I bring these donations up because a member of your "ticket" from 2020 is similarly truth challenged. In a bald faced lie another member of your ticket that year made the statement that my wife and I had not contributed anything to this individual's campaign. That assertion was used as an excuse for this member of your ticket to donate nothing to the Lincoln Day Dinner that year. I was dumbfounded, because my wife and I had, in fact, contributed to that person's campaign. I was the Chair of the Lincoln Day Dinner that year as Vice Chair of the Manatee County Republican Executive Committee. My wife and I appeared at a 2020 fund raising event for a third member of your ticket. We were actually asked by the candidate not to contribute to that individual's campaign because of all the work we did for the party! The fourth member of your ticket in 2020 has repaid us for our generosity to him by refusing an appointment with me and refusing to supply me with public records. One of my requests is nearly 3 years old now. This fourth member is James Satcher who is completely worthless as my District One County Commissioner. He was a member of your ticket in 2020. You are judged by the company you keep. When you ran for Commissioner in 2020, someone on background discovered that you had contributed to Barrack Obama. Clearly birds of afeather flock together. I hope you do not believe I accept that as a mistake. You are a big government guy, first, last, and always. You are a crony capitalist guy. It is in the record. Kevin van Ostenbridge calls anyone who disagrees with him a Communist. If the shoe fits.... You told me to quit spreading lies about you. I attempted to respond to your original post on two separate occasions. Both times I was immediately knocked off and my post was deleted. A lie is an intentional misrepresentation of a known fact. I told you what happened and it did happen. I did not intentionally misrepresent anything. The known fact is that I was immediately knocked off when I tried to reply. Your background as a Commissioner is so repulsive, that I do not have to call you a liar. Your record speaks for itself.
Advisory Boards are only as good if the Commission listens and acts on their recommendations, they don't. A prime example was the Wetlands vote. The planning commission vote unanimous not to reduce the wetlands along with 99% of concerned citizens. Did they act on public opinion or advisory boards recommendations... NO THEY DID NOT. Without consequences for their actions these boards are marginalized and the good people leave like I did on the Affordable Housing Advisory Board AHAB because it was steered by staff to get the outcomes they wanted. Many the meetings were cancelled by staff and chair without getting the rest of the boards opinion or VOTE and Ray Tuner didn't bother showing up when we had them and few we did many we could not get a quorum.... For The Record

I’ll do what I can to make sure that education is available. I truly believe it will do our entire county a lot of good.
